Tesla and Mr Musk did not respond to requests for comment.

This layoff implies that Tesla's newly emerging traditional marketing promotion action has come to an end. The company has been avoiding television, radio, paper or online advertising, basically through word of mouth to build a prestigious brand. Until last year, Musk said Tesla would "try a little advertising and see how it works." Ingram started building a growth team about four months ago.
